Junior Umpire FAQ
1. How old do I need to be to be a junior umpire? Junior Umpires are generally 13 and up although if you are a mature 12-year old and are interested please reach out to Michael Melman
2. How do I become a junior umpire? Prior to each season The MBSA hosts a detailed umpiring clinic which covers field work, rules, and everything else a junior umpire needs to know to begin officiating games. Once this clinic has been attended the newly minted junior umpire will qualify to be assigned games
3. How much does this pay? The junior umpire program pays $20/game to anyone currently registered for Rec and $15/game if not part of the Rec program.
4. How will I know when I am assigned? In addition to contact made through a group chat with all the junior umps and the assignor, umpires will receive texts and emails. They will be required to either accept or decline the assignment.
